Originally in this area the HOTEL CITY-KRONE is placed now, stood in the old days THE KRONEN BREWERY, owned by Max Schöllhorn,  founded in 1875. This can still be seen by the Hotels name and the cellar deep underneath the earth, protected by thick walls, which is called the “Schlaraffenkeller”. In this cellar they kept the ice for brewing the beer.
 
During the Second World War, the brewery was completely destroyed, just like the most buildings in Friedrichshafen. After the war, Alfons Schöllhorn built a simple guest house with only a few rooms.
 
Bit by bit the guest house expanded, there were more rooms built and the indoor pool was added, which was the first one in a Hotel in Friedrichshafen.

Barbara Rieger took over the hotel from her father. She and her husband managed the hotel in second generation. They expanded it and made it successfully to one of the prestigious and well known 4 Star hotels in Friedrichshafen.
 
Today she runs the hotel with her two sons Max und Moritz Rieger. The two junior directors operationally entered the business in 2015. Before they came back home, they made their career at the sail performance sport. As a rehearsed team they took part in an Olympic campaign in the sophisticated athletic boot class 49. Nearly at the same time they finished their Bachelor studies and there trainees as a management assistant. As well they gained some experience by working in international hotel groups.
